The middle ground that didn't exist.
Karibu was born the way most meaningful things are — out of a family's own struggle. Watching a beloved parent's health decline while juggling work, children, and the guilt of not being there enough, our founder realised something painful: Kampala had hospitals, and it had nursing aides you could hire for the home. But there was no real middle ground. No place that felt like family but had the clinical care of a hospital when it was needed.
So we built one. A beautiful converted family home, capped at 10 residents, staffed by trained nurses around the clock. We cook real food. We remember birthdays. We send weekly video updates to families in London, Toronto, Boston, and Houston. And we treat every person under our roof the way we would treat our own mother.
We are conveniently located in the Namugongo neighbourhood — close to Kampala's major hospitals, so specialist care and emergency support are never more than minutes away when it matters most.
Why families choose Karibu.
Five things we do differently — and why they matter when the person in our care is yours.
Boutique Scale
A maximum of 10 residents means every person gets individual attention — never a number on a ward.
Home Environment
A real converted family home with gardens, a kitchen, and living areas — not a clinical ward.
Trained Nurses On Site 24/7
Not just carers — qualified nursing professionals, present overnight and on weekends.
Diaspora-Ready

Secure & Safe
